One of the BIG “stars” in the world of Superfood is David Wolfe. In his recent book Superfoods: the Food and Medicine of the Future he explains how some of the best superfoods in the world can improve your health. I have been reading this book for a while and I must say it’s inspirational reading. Yesterday I talked to David Wolfe on Skype about superfood for a upcoming story, me in Göteborg, Sweden and he in Ontario, Canada.
First he told a little bit about the history of Superfoods, “the most powerful foods identified by ancient civilizations”, like Aloe Vera (Egypt), The Noni berry (Polynesia), The Acai berry (The Amazonas, Brazil), Chlorella (Korea), The Goji berry (China), The Cacao nut (Central America, Mexico) and The Maca root (The Andean Highlands in South America) – all ranked the No 1 in each part of the world.
“We don’t know what real nutrition is until we experience it.”
David Wolfe chosed to start eating superfood in large amounts 10 years ago when he realised how important they are.
– Once you have understood there is no resistance. Superfoods are self-evident – they are proven, obvious and natural. As a raw-foodist your food instincts get stronger and you are attracted to food with more nutrition. Superfood are replacing supplements, which is an old technology.
Since David Wolfe discovered the impressive health benefits of superfoods he has made it his mission to tell the world about it. He is convinced that everybody on a conventional diet are having different kinds of health problems, minor or major.
– Aches, pains, allergies etc caused by very poor diet choices. Just the simple fact that we grow up in a culture where we eat candy says it all.
David Wolfe is trying to tell there is another way. Since many years he is a popular speaker on nutrition and apart from his research of superfood all around the world he is also a dietary consult for Hollywood celebreties and business executives. And who doesn’t want to stay healthy and young? Superfood and anti-aging is closely linked.
“In the Raw-Food Community there is a saying: Immortality is the only cause worth dying for, or living for.”
His next book project is about superherbs. The day before he lead a “wild-walk” with 60 persons showing and telling about living food in nature.
– In the future more and more people will become aware of what we have in our surroundings, and more conscious about quality. We will realise that we can influence the supply but also grow ourselves.
