Just add Nature!
A friend asked me recently what he should do about his lost motivation for training. I just needed to remind him about a few things you will experience in nature this time of year: the crispy air; the scent of wet soil; the autumn colors. For me Nature works as a great motivator for lacing my trail shoes and go for a run in the forest. For optimal trail running and nature experience I link together several small single trails to a long single trail run. And I truly believe we get positive energy from Nature. Done once a day or a couple of times a week and your batteries will be charged. Even if you’re not a runner you can still get a good workout by walking in undulating or hilly terrain. And don’t be afraid to try the small, almost invisible trails leading into the unknown. You never know what you will stumble across. Like today’s run, when there suddenly was a glowing lantern on the trail, and more lanterns leading into a glade. I was early for a scout meeting, where the group leader had lit a bonfire and had blueberry soup ready (processed sugar soup with blueberries to be correct).
As a trail runner you will stay fit all year round, since Nature always is beautiful, exciting and rewarding. Running in real terrain brings out the wild in you. Raw running!
