How to begin eating superfood

September 27, 2009

After reading my story about superfood in Göteborgs-Posten several friends have been asking me how they can begin with superfood, where to get it and how to use it. Here is what I suggest:

Read about it on Internet, just google “superfoods” and you will get plenty of information. You might also want to check out where you will find lots of interesting articles.

Try to add a few superfoods to your daily meals and at the same time avoiding bad stuff. You will find superfoods at most herbalists and organic food stores. Ask around, some shops have much better selection. A few common superfoods: bee pollen, hemp seed, hemp seed oil, spirulina powder, acai powder, barley grass powder, nettle powder, mulberries, gojiberries, maca powder, manuka honey etc. Use them in salads, on your porridge, in smoothies, juice etc.

When you have tested a few superfoods and know which ones work for you ordering from Online shops can save you a lot of money. Just make sure to get good quality. Ask about its country of origin, if it’s organic, if it has been processed in any way, etc?

Only eating superfoods can be difficult and expensive but it’s easy to make a green shake every morning with apple juice, barley grass powder and spirulina powder – just make sure you don’t leave home with three green stains in your face.

It’s fairly easy to make a tea from cinnamon, turmeric, black pepper, ginger and cloves – all with powerful antioxidants. Also it’s not difficult to eat 2-3 fruits every day, as a start, and drink plenty of water! Superfoods are great but everything you do matters.
