Testing: Spring 2012 running shoe reviews

April 9, 2012

Make your pick! Spring 2012 offers plenty to choose from when it comes to "fun running".

Since october I have been testing lots of running shoes in the categories Barefoot, Minimalist, Zero drop, Hybrid, Door-to-trail, Trail, Oversize, Lightweight, Racing flat.  The reviews will be published in april and may this spring in Utemagasinet, a swedish outdoor magazine. I have been reviewing running shoes for Utemagasinet (and Runner’s World) a decade or so. Here are some of my favourites Spring 2012:

Cushioned road: Asics Gel-Excel 33 (10mm drop), Saucony Cortana (lovely cushioning)

Inov-8 seems to have one particular thing in mind: Running and training should be fun! From zero drop road minimalism to hardcore fell running, you will find what you're looking for, and more...

Allround trail / ultra-trail: Montrail Bajada (versatile, cushioned), Saucony Peregrine 2 (4mm drop)

Trail racing: Asics Fuji Racer (snug & nimble), Merrell Mixmaster (lighweight & low profile and snug fit), The North Face Hayasa (lightweight)

Spring 2012 models sport strong colors, lightness and lowered drop.

Trail cruising: Brooks Pure Grit (lovely ride on gravel and park trails), Saucony Kinvara Trail (for softer trails)

Barefoot trail: New Balance Minimus Zero Trail (for smooth trails), Inov-8 Bare Grip (off-trail scrambling)

Off-trail racing: Inov-8 X-Talon 190 (excellent running feel and traction)

Winter trail: Salomon Spikecross (warm and comfy), Icebug Anima Buggrip (lightweight and outstanding grip)

Minimalist / hybrid: Brooks Pure Connect (fantastic running feel)

Cross-fit: adidas adipure adapt (sock-like feel), Inov-8 Bare-X (great fit and sticky grip)
