Dakota beats Killian and Sets Record in Transvulcania

American Montrail Runner Dakota Jones has won the 2012 Transvulcania, an 83 km ultra run that took place in La Palma in the Canary Islands 12th May.

Dakota has set a new course record smashing last year’s time by Spain’s Miguel Heras of 7:32:13 with a new time of 6:59:07.

Dakota Jones’s victory came as a surprise to some as the field was deep with quality international competition including Killian Jornet and pre-race favourite Andy Symonds.

500 runners started the event at 6 am, which features over 8.000 m of ascent and is part of the Sky Runner World Series.
